Are you like me and want to find more ways to better yourself as an artist? We all know that rush that comes over you when you have a spark of energy and a determination to make art. One thing that has really helped me kindle my artistic spirit this summer is podcasts. After researching and experimenting with many of them, I now have a list of channels that I listen to frequently and enjoy wholeheartedly. So, if you're ready to plug your headphones in and dive into the wonderful world of podcasts, this is the right place for you.

Music Student 101
I'll start with the podcasts that have to do with our careers in music. Music Student 101 is a show that promotes the understanding of musical topics, most notably music theory. One of the reasons I like this channel so much is that they have a website that goes along with their episodes, giving you as the listener some visuals when they delve into theory-related topics. The hosts are fun to listen to, and will sometimes also cover music history and practices that they found useful when they were students.

The ScreamingDivas's Podcast
This is a wonderful podcast for those who are specifically interested in the vocal performance of opera. This podcast features many interviews with acclaimed singers in the business, including singers such as Marilyn Horne, Rachel Willis-Sørensen, Stephanie Blythe, Nadine Sierra, and more famous names for aspiring singers. The interviews tend to be an hour to an hour and a half long, and provide great insights into the business!

Opera After Dark
This podcast is great if you are looking for memorable ways to remember composers and performers for an upcoming music history exam. In each episode, the hosts will focus on strange and scandalous facts from the Western Canon of Music. With over 134 episodes and running, this podcast is sure to supply you with weird and wacky stories!

OperaNow!
Although they haven't updated since April 19th, 2022, this podcast is all about reporting the happenings of our modern world of opera, giving you all the news about what's hopping and bopping in our crazy world of music!

Musicality Now
While I haven't delved as far into the rabbit hole with this podcast just yet, this still can be a great resource for musicians who want answers to questions. Set up as a Q&A podcast, this show strives to answer all your questions in regards to the things that we struggle the most with as musicians. Who knows, maybe the area you're most stressed out about is discussed on this show!

Song Appeal
Lastly, this podcast is more along the lines of music theory and fun. Crazy to see both "music theory" and "fun" in the same sentence, right? This show is all about the tools pop songs use to make us as listeners like them more through the discussion of the theory behind iconic pieces. You might learn some cool new facts about a piece you adore!

In Conclusion
I am sure there are many more podcasts out there that are aimed at musicians and those that enjoy the discussion of the performing arts. However, these are just the handful of podcasts that I personally discovered during the last month of study on my own behalf. If I find any more to add, I'll be sure to list them here!
